Tahiti is a tropical island located in the Pacific Ocean and is the largest tropical island located in French Polynesia. Tahiti has a population of 184,000 and counting. The island is nestled 5,700 km from Australia, 4,400 km away from Hawaii and 7,900 km away from Chile. The island is 45 km across and covers an area of 1,045 km squared. Tahiti's highest point is Mount Orohena. Tahiti is an overseas collectivity of France and is part of French Polynesia. Therefore French is spoken in Tahiti. - Go Scuba Diving - Tahiti is home to clear blue waters home to some the worlds most exquisite marine life, making it the perfect place to dive and experience the islands most alluring features.
- Go to Moorea - Moorea is the island situated next to Tahiti and is accessible through ferry. The island features rugged terrain full of mountains and lush greenery. As well the island has many beaches and is perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving.
- Fautaua Waterfall - Is a natural waterfall that flows 985 feet down into a large pool loacted in the Fautaua Valley. Although the hike to the waterfall can be treacherous it's worthwhile to experience its natural beauty especially in rainy season.
- Pape'ete - Is the capital of Tahiti and French Polynesia, this is a great place to shop,enjoy the local cuisine and revel in the islands beauty. As well you can buy local crafts and black pearls which the island is famous for. And you can enjoy the fresh produce and array of food trucks.
- Black Sand Beach - Tahiti is famous for its black sand beaches that reach into the clear blue waters of Tahiti that are full of various marine life and are a must see.
- Tahitian Otea - The Otea is a Tahitian hula dance often confused with the Hawaiian hula dance, but is more elegant and slow pasted. This is a wonderful experience especially for tourists.
